Biography
Dr. Juliana Bicca is an endocrinologist, researcher, and international authority in women’s hormonal health, with a special focus on estrogen metabolism, menopause, metabolic disorders, and lipedema.
She earned her medical degree from the Federal University of Santa Catarina in 2001, followed by Internal Medicine residency and a two-year Endocrinology Residency through SUS-SP. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Columbia University under the supervision of Dr. Pamela U. Freda and Dr. John P. Bilezikian, advancing her expertise in neuroendocrinology and metabolic bone disease. In February 2024, she passed the DHA Endocrinology Board Examination, further expanding her international credentials.
Dr. Bicca’s research interests include women’s health, menopause, hormone metabolism, bone diseases, and the endocrine mechanisms underlying lipedema. She has contributed to scientific discussions on how hormonal transitions — including menarche, pregnancy, and menopause — influence disease development and progression.
She currently serves as Vice-President of the Brazilian Academy of Functional and Integrative Medicine, an organization with over 5,000 active members. She is also the creator and co-founder of RHEM, one of the largest medical education ecosystems in women’s health and menopause in Brazil, with more than 1,200 registrants at its most recent annual event.
Beyond academia, Dr. Bicca maintains a highly active private practice and has trained more than 3,500 physicians in the past four years through advanced medical education programs. She frequently lectures at national and international conferences and provides consultancy to technology companies in the development of hormonal and non-hormonal therapeutic pellets.
