Biography

Shaughna Phillips is a prominent British television personality, influencer, and tireless advocate for Lipedema awareness. She first captured the public’s attention on the 2020 series of Love Island, but it was her life after the "villa" that defined her mission. After enduring years of self-consciousness and online trolling regarding the appearance of her legs, Shaughna was alerted to the possibility of a medical condition by her own social media followers.

In 2020, she was formally diagnosed with Stage 1–2 Lipedema, a revelation she describes as a "massive relief" after a lifetime of believing her disproportionate weight gain was a personal failure. Since then, Shaughna has been an open book regarding her journey, documenting her decision to undergo lipoedema-reduction surgery on her calves to regain her mobility and confidence. She has been vocal about the "torture" of undiagnosed Lipedema, sharing how she once struggled with eating disorders and excessive exercise that failed to impact the diseased fat.

With a social media following of over 1.4 million, Shaughna leverages her platform to bridge the gap between mainstream entertainment and medical advocacy. She has collaborated with organizations like Lipoedema UK and used her fashion edits to promote body confidence and inclusivity. At the Lipedema Summit, Shaughna brings the vital perspective of a high-profile patient who has navigated the transition from public scrutiny to empowered advocacy, championing the message that Lipedema is a medical condition, not a lifestyle choice.
